Our annual Christmas recital is always a treat for not only our guests but our performers. Come and watch this music event where students of all ages and levels will entertain you with delight!

This years piano recital will be Saturday, January 28th at the Cantos Music Foundation.
It will be at 6:00 pm!  All participating students, please be about half an hour early and bring a snack to share.

I am very excited to announce that there has been a theory group class added.  It will be covering 2 exams; the Preliminary Rudiments Exam and the Basic Rudiments exam.  For the students who have done Preliminary already, you will get a good refresher until the Basic begins.  OR  You may begin the class starting on Fridays, March 4, 2011. Preliminary students will be reviewing their material with practice exams, and computer exercises from that point until their exam.

This is an intense course.  I expect for the participants of this course to do quite a bit of homework, and have it in before class.  This way, I am able to correct it for your class.  It also has extra homework to do over holidays, such as Teacher’s Convention, and Spring Break.  So be prepared to go through the material quickly.  And it will be a lot of fun!  We have flash cards, and computer time to help with each part of the material.  For my students who love theory as much as I do, get ready for some theory!  Yay!

Another reminder; the deadline for the May Theory Exams and the June Piano (practical) Exams is March 1, 2011.  For those taking practical exams, I suggest that you register for your exam as soon as possible, so that you may still be able to pick your own times.  If you are doing both theory and practical exams, don’t forget to register for both exams.

2. Payments:
I require post-dated cheques for each month for the entire term.
Please make cheques payable to Jennie Higgins

3. Terms:
The first term begins on September 5th. The second term begins on January 8th. Please see your calendar provided by your teacher.

4. Lesson Fees:
Evaluations are $15.00. The lesson fees will be discussed at your evaluation. Recital fees are included. Monthly fees will vary. Please see your calendar that is provided by your teacher.

5. Music Supplies:
Music books and supplies are not included in the lesson fees. Your teacher will provide a list of books and supplies required for each student in your evaluation. RCM exam fees are not included in these prices.

6. Music Books:
The two curriculums that I prefer to teach from are: the Alfred Piano Series (includes: Basic, Premier & Little Mozart’s programs), and the Royal Conservatory of Music (includes: Celebration Piano Series). I am a RCM certified teacher, and am qualified to teach Beginner to Grade 8.

7. Make-up Lessons:
I require at least 48 hours notice if you should need to make any changes made to your lesson that week. Make-up lessons will be provided at your teacher’s discretion.

8. Private Lessons:
The lessons are private, parents and friends may not stay in the lesson. Parents may be allowed to remain until your child is comfortable or if the teacher thinks it may benefit your child. Please discuss the with your teacher after or before the child’s lesson.

9. Cancellation Policy:
Adamo Piano Studio requires 2 weeks before the 1st of the following month for your cheques to be returned. If notice is given under 2 weeks, there will be no refund for the following month.
Adamo Piano Studio reserves the right to withhold any outstanding fees.

2. Pay on time. Mrs. Jenn requires tuition in advance by the month.  Post-dated cheques are to be giving before the first lesson of each term.  Many teachers collect tuition in advance by the month, semester or year and do not refund tuition. Often teachers raise fees commensurate with cost-of-living increases on a yearly or bi-yearly basis.

3. Respect the teacher’s make-up lesson policies and cancel lesons in a timely manner.

4. Keep track of how your child is progressing and whether any problems are deveolping. Mrs. Jenn requires a notebook of some kind, so she may record what your child does and needs to practice each week.

5. Inform Mrs. Jenn if you think assignments are too hard or too easy, too long or too short.

6. Provide a tuned piano, and all necessary music and supporting materials such a metronome.

7. Monitor your child’s practice.

8. Aid your child’s musical development outside the lesson.

9. Inform Mrs. Jenn if your child has a negative attitude toward lessons or would like discontinue them
